A Drenching

Unforeseen, the rumbling’s loud first
Paradiddle portends a cloudburst;
The sullen moods above the ground shout
And burst their volutes in luciferous drowned roar:
Outburst, outcast, downcast, downspout —
Step-by-step transformed into downpour.
